Lesson in Rebuking Demons

I was troubled about where I found some of my writings on the internet map. At first I thought maybe it does not matter as the postings may be unaltered. But today as I read the account of Jesus rebuking demons and setting folk free I realized that He did not want demons announcing His presence ever. Luke 4:38-41 Amplified Bible (AMP) 38 Then He arose and left the synagogue and went into Simon’s (Peter’s) house. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering in the grip of a burning fever, and they pleaded with Him for her. 39 And standing over her, He rebuked the fever, and it left her; and immediately she got up and began waiting on them. 40 Now at the setting of the sun [indicating the end of the Sabbath], all those who had any [who were] sick with various diseases brought them to Him, and He laid His hands upon every one of them and cured them. 41 And demons even came out of many people, screaming and crying out, You are the Son of God! But He rebuked them and would not permit them to speak, because they knew that He was the Christ (the Messiah). Later Paul went to the same rebuke and set a girl free of demons that enslaved her to greedy masters. This is recorded in Acts 16:16-18 Amplified Bible (AMP) 16 As we were on our way to the place of prayer, we were met by a slave girl who was possessed by a spirit of divination [claiming to foretell future events and to discover hidden knowledge], and she brought her owners much gain by her fortunetelling. 17 She kept following Paul and [the rest of] us, shouting loudly, These men are the servants of the Most High God! They announce to you the way of salvation! 18 And she did this for many days. Then Paul, being sorely annoyed and worn out, turned and said to the spirit within her, I charge you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her! And it came out that very [a]moment. Demon spirits are distracting to say the least and will always try to steal the attention of the people that are trying to get help from Jesus their deliverer. Followers of the Lord Jesus need never put up with devilish tricks and must always set the captive free. What a glorious provision of the Lord God Almighty for the enslaved.
